Using File Storage with the Safari Browser

Safari has a setting to "Prevent cross-site tracking", which is enabled by default. This setting prevents file storage integrations from working as intended when using Handrail with Safari.

Known Issues with File Storage Using Safari with the "Prevent cross-site tracking" Setting Turned On

  1. Authorizing a connection to OneDrive will be blocked.
  2. Users are prompted to reauthorize the connection to their storage provider every time they close and reopen their browser.
  3. Images may be displayed as broken links.

Two Options to Avoid Known Issues

To avoid the issues with file storage in Handrail when using the Safari browser, two options are available:

  1. Use a browser other than Safari.
  2. Turn off the "Prevent cross-site tracking" option in Safari — Go to PreferencesPrivacy and uncheck "Prevent cross-site tracking".

This setting prevents Handrail from effectively communicating with your file storage provider. However, turning it off may allow other third-party content providers to track you across websites to advertise products and services. Consult your organization's policies if you have any concerns before turning this setting off.
